April 15, 2015: Approval of a new business of Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd. (Kanpo)open new window

On April 15, 2015, the FSA and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications approved the application by Japan Post Insurance Co., Ltd. (Kanpo) to start a new business, pursuant to the "Postal Service Privatization Act." The new business will distribute ordinary endowment insurance, for which the premium paying period is relatively shorter than the policy term.

The FSA published the IFRS Adoption Report. The report was compiled based on “Japan Revitalization Strategy (Revised in 2014)”, which stated that “the Government will conduct a fact-finding survey and interviews to ascertain how companies that have voluntarily adopted the IFRS overcame any challenges they faced during the transition to the IFRS, and what advantages their shift to the IFRS has had”. This report is intended to serve as a useful reference for companies considering adopting the IFRS.
