January 10, 2017: Publication of the draft amendments to the “Ordinance for the Enforcement of the Banking Act”open new window

The FSA proposed the draft amendments to the “Ordinance for the Enforcement of the Banking Act.” The current Ordinance stipulates that banks shall report to the authorities in the event of misconduct that caused a loss of cash equivalents worth one million yen or more (per incidence). The proposal is to abolish such formal criteria for the reportable value, thereby ensuring that banks conduct substantive operations management. (The proposal is based on comments received at the “Contact for Financial Policies Monitor,” a neutral third-party comprised of external experts).
