The Status of Non Performing Loans as of end-September 2007

1. Non Performing Loans (NPLs) based on the Financial Reconstruction Law (FRL)

The total amount of NPLs of all banks based on the definition in the FRL as of end-September 2007 is 11.9 trillion yen. The figure decreased by 0.1 trillion yen from 12.0 trillion yen as of end-March 2007.

2. Specific Provision for Loan Losses

The total amount of specific provisions for loan losses as of end-September 2007 stands at 2.76 trillion yen, increased by 0.04 trillion yen from 2.72 trillion yen as of end-March 2007.

3. Total Loss Amount from the Disposal of NPLs

The total loss amount from the disposal of NPLs from April 2007 to September 2007 is 0.8 trillion yen, increased by 0.6 trillion yen from 0.2 trillion yen during the same period of 2006.
