Symposium on
Financial Activity of Households and SME Financing in the Regional Economy

The Financial Research Center (FSA Institute) and the Asian Financial Partnership Center of the Financial Services Agency organized a symposium titled “Financial Activity of Households and SME Financing in the Regional Economy” jointly with the Institute of Social and Economic Research of Osaka University, the Institute of Economic Research of Kyoto University, the Graduate School of Business Administration, Kobe University, and the Asian Development Bank Institute on October 30, 2014.

The symposium examined the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the regional economy-in particular, the current situation of SME financing and how it should be-and households’ borrowing behavior from the viewpoint of behavioral economics, and discussed challenges for Asia’s financial markets and SME financing. The symposium had over 100 participants from financial institutions and academics, and there were in-depth and lively discussions.
