Exchange of Letters on co-operation in the area of banking supervision with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA)
- The Financial Services Agency (FSA) exchanged the Letters on co-operation in the area of banking supervision with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) on August 9, 2016.
- This exchange of Letters intends to strengthen and facilitate co-operation between both authorities, with a view to ensuring soundness of the financial systems in both jurisdictions and of the finances of banking organisations operating in each other’s jurisdiction.
- The contents of the Letters include, but are not limited to, the following:
- that the authorities will endeavor to notify each other of any material supervisory concern and supervisory action;
- that the authorities will notify each other of plans to visit the banks in each other’s jurisdiction and may inform each other of any material findings arising out of the visit and discuss, as necessary, issues that emerge from such visits; and
- Confidentiality of information exchanged, etc.
