Participation in the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC)


The International Organization of Securities Commissions Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (IOSCO-APRC) and Roundtable Meetings were held on November 28 (Wed), 2007 in Seoul, South Korea. Commissioner Kumano and staff from the Executive Bureau of the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission participated in the Committee and the Meetings.

The APRC is one of the regional frameworks in the IOSCO, and consists of 21 IOSCO member countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific Region. It is a place for providing information related to the various problems of the capital market in the Asia-Pacific Region and discussing the promotion of cooperation therein.

In this IOSCO-APRC, topics including the implementation of IOSCO Principles, multilateral MOU and the mutual recognition of collective investment schemes were discussed. In the Roundtable Meetings, recent trends in securities surveillance were discussed, and Commissioner Kumano made a presentation in the Roundtable Session on the regulation of electronic trading systems.
