[Opening Statement]
The Bill for Partial Amendment of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act was approved by the Cabinet today. Addressing a variety of issues pertaining to the recent financial crisis, this Bill calls for addressing issues highlighted by insider trading cases relating to public offering of new shares, reviewing asset investment regulations in light of the AIJ case and improving systems in connection with the enhancement of frameworks for the orderly resolution of financial institutions in order to respond to market-based financial crises as well as restore confidence in financial capital markets and bolster their functions. We would ask the Diet to promptly deliberate on and pass this Bill.
