On July 13, the FSA ordered Higashi-Nippon Bank, Ltd to improve its business operations. There have been series of inappropriate cases involving regional banks, including Suruga Bank, which is currently subject to on-site inspection by the FSA for forging loan application documents. Following these cases, what is the FSA’s view on its supervision for the future?

All financial institutions, including regional banks, are required to comply with laws and regulations and conduct customer-oriented business operations. Any institutions that do not conduct proper business operations are subject to the business improvement order by the FSA.
