Establishment of the “Advisory Council on the Systems of Accounting and Auditing”

1. Purpose

There have been successive efforts to improve the systems of accounting and auditing. However, public confidence in the systems is now in question anew due to recent accounting problems related to IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) and accounting irregularities.

In this respect, for the purpose of obtaining proposals on the systems of accounting and auditing from experts in relevant fields, including business executives, academics, accountants, and financial analysts, we hereby announce the establishment of the “Advisory Council on the Systems of Accounting and Auditing” (the “Council”).

2. Organization

  • (1)The Council is to be composed of experts in accounting and auditing from relevant fields, including business executives, academics, accountants, and financial analysts (the member list is to be released later).

  • (2)The general affairs of the Council are to be handled by the Corporate Accounting and Disclosure Division of the Planning and Coordination Bureau, Financial Services Agency.
