Japan-U.S. Financial Services Roundtable
On October 4th, 2024, the Japan-U.S. Financial Services Roundtable was held at the Financial Services Agency in Tokyo, Japan. The Roundtable is based on the Fact Sheet for the Japan-U.S. Joint Leaders' statement issued this April, which aims to strengthen the bilateral partnership to bolster cross-border investment and support financial stability.
The Roundtable was held with the participation of U.S. and Japanese government officials as well as private sector participants in the asset management industry who attended Japan Weeks events. Participants discussed the current macroeconomic situation in Japan and the U.S. Also, they exchanged their views on the impact of policy initiatives in both countries on measures taken to enhance the functioning of the respective financial and capital markets, in particular, Japan's policy initiative to promote Japan as a leading asset management center, which private sector participants welcomed. Official sector participants agreed to cooperate further to increase financial flows between both countries and to support financial stability.
