The Expert Panel members discussed the enhancement of investment opportunities for a wide range of investors. *The Expert Panel is composed of business, financial, and academic experts, with observers of officials from pertinent ministries and agencies. In the sixth meeting, the secretariat (i.e. the FSA) gave a briefing on the topics below, followed by a discussion among the working group members: - Mitigation of the regulations on the retention of Type I funds transfer services, and - Regulations for cross-border collection agent services. December 10, 2024 | Cross-sectoral publicity for financial crime prevention <Summary> The FSA announced that, as part of anti-money laundering (AML) and financial crime prevention measures, the JBA (Japanese Bankers Association) has taken the initiative in creating a cross-sectoral* and unified public relations (PR) content for the ongoing customer due diligence by financial institutions**, with the cooperation of the FSA and the NPA (National Police Agency). *Deposit-taking financial institutions including banks, shinkin banks, shinkumi federation banks (credit cooperatives), and labor banks. **Financial institutions regularly send customers sealed postcards/envelopes to verify that accounts are being used by their rightful holders, in order to prevent misuse of accounts. The PR content calls for understanding and cooperation from customers, which leads to financial crime prevention and will eventually contribute to the safety and security of the entire society.
