Financial Services Agency
Removal of the Order of Suspension regarding Credit Suisse Trust and Banking Co.Ltd.
- On July 29, 1999, the Financial Supervisory Agency (predecessor of the Financial Services Agency, hereinafter referred to as the ''FSA'') ordered the Credit Suisse Trust and Banking Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the ''Bank'') to partially suspend its business, based on Article 27 of the Banking Law and Article 8 of the Act concerning Concurrent Operation of Trust Business by Financial Institutions. Since after August 5, 2000, the FSA had been prepared to review this status taking into consideration the condition of the Bank's improvement towards legal compliance and management system, in case the Bank requests an offer to resume its business.
- Upon the offer of the Bank's request for its business resumption, the FSA decided to remove the order of its business suspension in view of the fact that, after careful consideration, the Bank has improved its legal compliance and management system, and Credit Suisse Group has been enforcing its overall compliance system as well.
- The FSA expects the Bank to operate its business in an appropriate manner as a public-spirited licensed bank, and continue to make efforts on further strengthening and enhancing its legal compliance and internal management system even after its resumption of the business.
- The FSA will continue to make every endeavor to ensure soundness and stability of the Japanese financial market and the management of financial institutions, in accordance with the law.
