Establishment of the Roundtable Committee on the Vision of the Japanese Financial System and Policies in the Future

  1. FSA has decided to establish an informal committee for Minister of Financial Services Agency Hakuo Yanagisawa with the aim to:
(1) Discuss urgent issues including the disposal of non-performing loans (NPLs) from a wide range of views;
(2) Survey the vision of the Japanese financial system in a comprehensive manner in the medium and long run, with respect to the roles that it should assume for our living and the management of companies;
(3) Based on such vision, study the way in which the policies for financial and capital markets may adequately meet the people's needs.
  1. The Committee plans to extract the points at issue through open-ended discussions among members and guests, and come up with a vision based on joint efforts by the members by mid-2002.
