Summary of 2023 International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference and the "FSA High-Level Dialogue”

 The 2023 IAIS Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference were held at the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba on November 9th and 10th, hosted by the Financial Services Agency (FSA). In addition, the FSA has held the "FSA High-Level Dialogue: The role of insurance in building a resilient society" on November 9th at the same venue.

1.Summary of IAIS Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference

The Annual General Meeting, an event for all the IAIS members, was held on the morning, November 9th. Following this, ARIIZUMI Shigeru, Vice Minister for International Affairs, FSA, assumed the Chair role of the Executive Committee.
 The Annual Conference was held from the afternoon of November 9th through November 10th, as a forum for discussion involving private stakeholders. It covered a wide-range of key issues, including natural catastrophe protection gaps, evolving risks in the global insurance sector, customer-centric outcomes, tackling climate risks, and the Insurance Capital Standard (ICS). More than 400 participants, including the IAIS members and stakeholders, joined the event.

2.Summary of "FSA High-Level Dialogue: The role of insurance in building a resilient society"

 In this event, we explored how insurers and the public sector can contribute to shaping a sustainable society, including through addressing natural catastrophe protection gaps and promoting sustainable/transition finance. The event featured speakers from both the public and private sectors, and was joined by more than 150 participants from over 30 countries and regions.
