Financial Services Agency
Statement by Hakuo Yanagisawa, Minister for Financial Services
United States' stock markets reopened yesterday night for the first time since the series of terrorist attacks. The markets saw an orderly resumption of trade. I would like to express my sincere respect at the determination and effort that market participants and the US authorities have demonstrated in overcoming enormous difficulties to reopen the markets after the tragic events of September 11. I am convinced that the reopening of the markets will provide a solid foundation for the strong growth of the U.S. and the global economy.
