[Opening remarks:]

NAGAOKA Takashi, Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs of the FSA, got appointed as Chair of IFIAR or the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators, an international organization aimed at improving global audit quality. He is the first IFIAR Chair elected from Asia.
IFIAR is the first finance-related international organization based in Japan.
The environment surrounding auditing is changing depending on the focuses of interest of businesses and individuals. I hope that under the chairmanship of Mr. Nagaoka, Japan will play a leading role in agenda setting and discussion, thus helping to improve global audit quality.
