During the core week of Japan Weeks 2025 (October 20-24), on October 23, Ms. Katayama Satsuki, Minister of State for Financial Services, delivered the following speech at the reception of an event hosted by Japanese Bankers Association (MUSUBU! JAPAN DAY), outlining the new administration’s financial initiatives:

“Our new cabinet is committed to building a strong economy that earns the trust of global investors.

Building upon the policy plan for ‘Promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center,’ we will deploy all policy measures available to achieve the goal. By the end of the year, the TAKAICHI administration will develop a ‘Regional Financial Power Enhancement Plan.’ Furthermore, we will bring this ‘Regional Financial Power’ together under our new policy strategy to unlock the potential of the Japanese economy.

We must strengthen three key pillars: human capital, regional economies, and corporate competitiveness. We will carefully examine the policy measures to reinforce Japan’s financial sector and develop a new, forward-looking policy strategy with concrete actions.”

Building on the progress made under the policy plan for “Promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center,” the Financial Services Agency will continue advancing financial initiatives aimed at building a strong economy that earns the trust of global investors.
