November 5, 2015: “Symposium on Protection against Financial Fraud” in Saitama Cityopen new window

On December 10, 2015, the FSA and Kanto Local Finance Bureau will jointly hold the “Symposium on Protection against Financial Fraud” in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. The Symposium is aimed at preventing consumers from getting involved in trouble related to financial fraud.
November 2, 2015: Establishment of the “Regional Financial Planning Office”open new window

The FSA has established the “Regional Financial Planning Office” in the Supervisory Coordination Division, Supervisory Bureau, which is responsible for planning, coordinating and analyzing information regarding financial intermediary functions by regional financial institutions.
Specifically, the roles of the office include the followings based on the “2015-2016 Strategic Directions and Priorities”:

  • (1)Planning and coordination of interviews with corporate borrowers in order to examine how they evaluate financial institutions as their lenders.

  • (2)Reviewing of methodologies in monitoring financial institutions by developing a set of benchmarking indices to assess their contribution to the revitalization of local economies.

  • (3)Secretariat activities for the “Working Group on Better Financial Intermediation” (tentative name).
