The FSA published “Statistics of NISA and Junior NISA Accounts.” As of June 30, 2016, there were 10.3 million NISA accounts in total, and approximately 8.4 trillion yen (approximately 83.0 billion USD) was invested through the NISA accounts. In addition, 12.2 billion yen (approximately 121 million USD) was invested through 139 thousand Junior NISA accounts, which newly started this year.
