FSA held the Opening Ceremony of the World Investor Week 2018

The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) launched its second annual World Investor Week (WIW) from October 1 through 7. During the WIW, many organization from more than 80 countries offer an array of activities to increase the awareness of investor education and protection in their jurisdictions.

On October 1, the Japan FSA held the Opening Ceremony of the WIW 2018 as part of WIW activities ahead of the rest of the world. Following last year’s Opening Ceremony held in the JPX, Japan had the honour of holding the Opening Ceremony of the WIW this year too this time at the Japan FSA.

The event was a big sucess, with more than 80 participants from 13 countries joined in the Ceremony. The ceremony began with a video letter from IOSCO C8 Chairman Mr. Josē Alexandre Vasco, followed by speeches by the FSA Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs Mr. Jun Mizuguchi, the JSDA Chairman and CEO Mr. Shigeharu Suzuki, and the Central Council for Financial Services Information, Chairman Mr. Shinichi Yoshikuni. In addition, a famous financial educator Mr. Kazuhisa Okamoto gave a lecture about the importance of financial education.
