February 6, 2018 | Publication of the finalized “Guidelines for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism” and the finalized amendments to the “Comprehensive Guidelines for Supervision of Major Banks, etc.” < Summary> The FSA finalized the “Guidelines for Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism” and the amendments to the “Comprehensive Guidelines for Supervision of Major Banks, etc.” The FSA deems it significant to strengthen the whole Japanese regime to ensure that its financial system is immune from money laundering and terrorist financing, by collaborating with the private sectors. The Guidelines clarify the basic stance on risk management practices against money laundering and terrorists financing in order to encourage financial institutions to develop their organizational structures to effectively prevent money laundering and terrorists financing. The updated Guidelines were enforced on February 6, 2018. |

February 6, 2018 | Publication of the finalized “Guideline for the Fair Disclosure Rule” < Summary> The FSA finalized the “Guideline for the Fair Disclosure Rule.” The Guideline mainly sets out the FSA’s basic stance on the methods of managing corporate information in accordance with the respective corporate circumstances and the way to handle the discussion of corporate future information. The Guideline will be enforced on April 1, 2018. |

February 7, 2018 | Request for financial measures to deal with disasters caused by the heavy snow which started on February 4, 2018 (The Fukui Local Finance Office of the Hokuriku Local Finance Bureau) < Summary> The Fukui Local Finance Office of the Hokuriku Local Finance Bureau and the Bank of Japan’s Kanazawa Branch issued a joint statement titled “financial measures to deal with disasters caused by the heavy snow which started on February 4, 2018” to the relevant financial institutions. The statement requests financial institutions in Fukui Prefecture to appropriately deal with victims of the disaster considering their circumstances, such as by making the repayment of deposits flexible. |
