The FSA has published the draft amendments to the "Basic Procedures for On-Site Inspections" (provisional English title). The proposal mainly intends to reflect recommendations from the "Collaborative Task Force to Further Strengthen the Linkage Between the FSA's Inspections Function and the BOJ's On-Site Examination Function" (established in November, 2020), in terms of alleviating the monitoring/examination-related burden on financial institutions and implementing higher-quality monitoring.

The FSA has updated its initiatives toward the further enhancement and dissemination of the customer-oriented business conduct among financial institutions. The updated initiatives are aimed at setting forth the following points in response to the "Report of the Working Group on Financial Markets of the Financial System Council – Toward the Enhancement of Financial Institutions' Customer-Oriented Business Conduct" (provisional English report title) published on August 5, 2020, by the said Working Group, and the "Principles for Customer-Oriented Business Conduct" amended and enforced on January 15, 2021:
  1. Form-templates and other particulars for financial institutions to report to the FSA on their policies and status of initiatives based on the "Principles for Customer-Oriented Business Conduct"
  2. Future publication of the list of financial institutions signing up to the said Principles
  3. Key points (factors) for analyzing good practices based on reports filed by financial institutions with the FSA as referred to in Point 1, and
  4. FAQ in regard to the above three points.
