The FSA and local finance bureaus provide information regarding unauthorized use of bank accounts to relevant financial institutions and law enforcement authorities after obtaining consents from informants. The FSA has published statistics that include the number of information sharing on cases regarding unauthorized use of deposit accounts up till June 30, 2017 since September 2003, along with the corresponding actions taken by financial institutions.

The FSA published the intermediate report of the “Roundtable on Risks Associated with the Settlement of Foreign Exchange Transactions” in addition to the summary of its third meeting held on June 29, 2017. The Roundtable was held three times from December 2016 through June 2017 to promote mitigation of risks associated with the settlement of foreign exchange transactions with a wide range of stakeholders.
August 2, 2017: Activities of the FSA’s Counseling Office for Financial Services Users between April 1 and June 30, 2017open new window

The FSA’s Counseling Office for Financial Services Users offers a counseling service to respond to inquiries and comments from financial services users. Between April 1 and June 30, 2017, the counseling office received 8,289 inquiries and comments, remaining roughly flat from 8,115 cases in the previous quarter (between January 1 and March 31, 2017).
August 1, 2017: Publication of the “FSA Policy Evaluation Basic Plan”open new window

The FSA published the “FSA Policy Evaluation Basic Plan” pursuant to the “Government Policy Evaluations Act.” To ensure objectivity and improve the quality of evaluation, the plan has been reviewed by the members of the Expert Panel on Policy Assessment. The FSA will conduct policy evaluation appropriately pursuant to the plan and the results will be published in due course.

To ensure the effectiveness and transparency of the Financial Policies Monitor System, the FSA published an outline of key comments newly received at the “Contact for Financial Policies Monitor,” a neutral third-party comprised of external experts, over the three-month period from January to March 2017. The outline also includes corresponding actions taken (or to be taken) by the FSA. The FSA publishes the outline on a regular basis.
