The FSA published “Statistics of NISA and Junior NISA Accounts.” As of September 30, 2016, there were 10.5 million NISA accounts in total, and approximately 8.9 trillion yen (approximately 78.3 billion USD) was invested through the NISA accounts. In addition, 20.4 billion yen (approximately 180 million USD) was invested through 174,000 Junior NISA accounts, which started from 2016.

The FSA will hold the “Symposium on Protection against Financial Fraud” jointly with the Okinawa General Bureau of the Cabinet Office, and with the Shikoku Local Finance Bureau, respectively in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture on February 13, 2016, and in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture on February 21, 2016. The Symposium is aimed at preventing consumers from getting involved in trouble related to financial fraud.
January 16, 2017: Financial measures to deal with the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian flu (HPAI) in Gifu Prefecture (Tokai Local Finance Bureau)open new window

Tokai Local Finance Bureau issued the statement “Financial Measures in Response to the Report of the Subspecies of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)” to relevant financial institutions in Gifu Prefecture. The statements request financial institutions to cooperate with prefectural authorities and appropriately deal with HPAI-affected parties (poultry farms, processors, and trade) considering their circumstances, such as by attentively responding to the needs of business management consultation and new loans or change of loan terms.
