Publication of the draft “Principles for Customer-Oriented Business Conduct” «Summary» The FSA proposed the draft “Principles for Customer-Oriented Business Conduct” based on the report on desirable policy measures to help financial accumulation of household financial assets and appropriate rules regarding markets and financial instruments exchanges, which was published by the “Working Group on Financial Markets” of the Financial System Council in December 2016.

Publication of a statistical report on financing by financial institutions for enterprises utilizing the “Guidelines for Personal Guarantee Provided by Business Owners” «Summary» The FSA published a statistical report on financing by financial institutions for enterprises utilizing the “Guidelines for Personal Guarantee Provided by Business Owners,” based on the data collected from April 2016 through the end of September 2016.

January 20, 2017:	The first trial of an administrative penalty case against an officer of SHIFT INC. for communicating insider information «Summary» On January 27, 2017, the first trial of an administrative penalty case against an officer of SHIFT INC. for communicating insider information to an individual who used the information and committed insider trading regarding stocks of SHIFT INC. will be conducted.
January 20, 2017:	Administrative penalty charge against an officer of HANATEN Co., Ltd. for communicating insider information regarding stocks of HANATEN Co., Ltd. «Summary» On January 19, 2017, the FSA issued an order to impose an administrative penalty charge against an officer of HANATEN Co., Ltd.* for communicating insider information regarding implementation of a tender offer of shares of HANATEN Co., Ltd. (by a tender offeror) to two individuals who used the information and committed insider trading. *:HANATEN Co., Ltd. was delisted in January 2016.
January 20, 2017:	Administrative penalty charges against two individuals for committing insider trading regarding stocks of HANATEN Co., Ltd. (1) (2) «Summary» On January 19, 2017, the FSA issued orders to impose administrative penalty charges against two individuals for committing insider trading of stocks of HANATEN Co., Ltd.*, by using information received from an officer of the entity. *:HANATEN Co., Ltd. was delisted in January 2016.
January 20, 2017:	Administrative penalty charge against an individual for committing insider trading regarding stocks of WATABE WEDDING CORPORATION by using insider information received «Summary» On January 19, 2017, the FSA issued an order to impose an administrative penalty charge against an individual for committing insider trading of stocks of WATABE WEDDING CORPORATION by using information received from a contractor of WATABE WEDDING CORPORATION.
January 17, 2017:	Publication of “Statistics of NISA and Junior NISA Accounts” «Summary» The FSA published “Statistics of NISA and Junior NISA Accounts.” As of September 30, 2016, there were 10.5 million NISA accounts in total, and approximately 8.9 trillion yen (approximately 78.3 billion USD) was invested through the NISA accounts. In addition, 20.4 billion yen (approximately 180 million USD) was invested through 174,000 Junior NISA accounts, which started from 2016.

January 16&18, 2017:

“Symposium on Protection against Financial Fraud” in Naha City and Takamatsu City «Summary» The FSA will hold the “Symposium on Protection against Financial Fraud” jointly with the Okinawa General Bureau of the Cabinet Office, and with the Shikoku Local Finance Bureau, respectively in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture on February 13, 2016, and in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture on February 21, 2016. The Symposium is aimed at preventing consumers from getting involved in trouble related to financial fraud.

January 16, 2017:

Financial measures to deal with the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian flu (HPAI) in Gifu Prefecture (Tokai Local Finance Bureau) «Summary» Tokai Local Finance Bureau issued the statement “Financial Measures in Response to the Report of the Subspecies of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI)” to relevant financial institutions in Gifu Prefecture. The statements request financial institutions to cooperate with prefectural authorities and appropriately deal with HPAI-affected parties (poultry farms, processors, and trade) considering their circumstances, such as by attentively responding to the needs of business management consultation and new loans or change of loan terms.
