May 12, 2025 The FSA published a draft partial amendment to the Comprehensive Guidelines for Supervision for Insurance Companies. Required amendments are to be made regarding the following points:
  • Ensuring of the effectiveness of guidance, etc. provided by non-life insurance companies to their insurance agencies
  • Prevention of the provision of excessive convenience to insurance agencies, etc.
  • Prevention of inappropriate temporary assignment of staff to insurance agencies, etc.
  • Ensuring of proper calculation methods for agency commissions
  • Development of an appropriate structure for the management of information on customers, etc.
  • Reduction of cross-shareholdings
  • Review of the method by which brokers receive brokerage fees
Public comments will be accepted until no later than 5:00 p.m. (JST), June 13 (Fri.), 2025.
