The Financial Research Center of the Financial Services Agency (FSA Institute) hosts joint international conferences which bring together the financial industry, academia, and the government sector to discuss practical issues concerning the financial system.

This year's international conference was jointly hosted by the FSA Institute and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) on September 30, 2011, and was titled “New Paradigms for Financial Regulation and Macro Policies: Emerging Market Perspectives.” The conference was attended by around 60 participants, including academics in Japan and abroad, government and central bank officials, and officials from foreign embassies in Tokyo.

The objective of this conference was to conduct stock-taking exercise of initiatives taken at national and international levels to strengthen frameworks for financial market regulation and macroeconomic policies following the global financial crisis, and evaluate recent developments from an emerging markets perspective.
